The very first step in succeeding at your Internet Business is learning to think right about it. Imagine someone who wants to become a lion tamer, but with no prior experience as one. How successful do you think he would be if he had decided to sit the lion down and reason with it? I’m guessing that his time as a lion tamer would be a very short, painful job. Learning to think right about your Internet Business means recognizing that what you will be doing is a way of doing business. The actual business that you select must be linked to your biggest strengths, meaning that you must know yourself in order to succeed. If you were attracted to doing business on the Internet because of the dream of instant riches overnight with no startup costs and without any specialized knowledge, your thinking is so very wrong! Roaming and hungry lions will eat you up in no time. Those lions are dishonest and unscrupulous marketers who prey on greedy but otherwise innocent victims who do not have a solid fundamental kind of knowledge about the Internet’s commercial aspect. They’ll keep gnawing on your credit card balance until you run dry. Just like a regular shop or business, an online business sells a service or product with the purpose of making a profit.
The service or the product is the focus; the Internet part is just the means of reaching customers. There’s no magic pill, method or Web tool or software that will produce money out of nothing. At least, I am quite sure there isn’t one at the time of this writing. If you know about one, please let me know and I will write a review about it. Having a passionate interest in a sport or hobby is often the best motive for starting an online business. If all you want to do is just to make some money, go get a job and let your boss handle all the problems and do all the worrying. Passion is the key ingredient that will carry a business past the barrier to long-term success that is quitting when things start getting tough. There is not one successful Internet business that hasn’t had a challenge that could have destroyed it without a commitment and perseverance to overcome that challenge, no matter how hard it is.
